Feb. 7th- Went in for my first OB visit- it was supposed to just be registration paperwork... they took my blood pressure and it was 156/111 and my belly was measuring big so they did an ultrasound to check dates and they determined I was about 13 and a half weeks along, not 7 weeks. They put me on medication for my blood pressure and told me to come back for a full OB physical in two weeks in the complicated OB clinic. I had lab work done and I had an UTI so they put me on antibiotics for that.
Feb. 21st- I went in for my OB physical and I got a pap smear and all that fun stuff... my blood pressure medicine seems to be kicking in because it was 142/84 this time. They took blood for the Maternal AFP test. They set up my next appointment for March 5th and I get to have another ultrasound in three to four weeks
March 5th- I had a routine OB check today, they just listened to the heartbeat (140-150 bpm) and measured my belly. My blood pressure was about the same as last time. My pap smear and my Maternal AFP test both came back normal. They want to see me again in two weeks, so I go back on Monday March 19th. I also have to have bloodwork done that day as well as my next ultrasound. I can't wait for that! We should be able to tell the sex because I'll be 20 weeks.
March 19th- I had my ultrasound and an OB check-up today... the baby is measuring up to about a week behind where they thought I was, so due about August 12th. Everything looked good, but the baby wouldn't flip over so they couldn't get a good look at the four chambers of the heart. Also, since it wouldn't flip over, they couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl definately... although they did say they didn't think they saw anything between it's legs. They want me to come back for another ultrasound on April 9th... they'll be able to see the heart better and hopefully it will open it's legs this time!
April 9th- I went back for my ultrasound and showed up about 10 minutes late and they gave my appointment to someone else! I was so mad! Then I went in for my OB checkup and I had to wait about an hour after my appointment time to see the doctor... I hate the way things work! My blood pressure was very high, but they attributed it to the fact I was so mad about the ultrasound. The doctor wants me to test my blood pressure at least once a day between now and my next appointment, which is next Monday, April 16th. He also wants me to do another 24 hour urine to test for protein because they found some at the office visit. My ultrasound is rescheduled for Friday the 13th of April.
